Tri-Color Gold W.& S. Blackinton Company Fancy Leaf Link Chain with Bird with Pearl Locket Gold Filled

Rare Victorian chain and matching locket. The chain has very unusual links.
The base is heavily textured yellow gold filled round links. On top of the
round links are curved leaves that have rose and green gold filled stripes.
Each leaf has a little curved wire at the edge like a vine. In between the
leaves are rose gold filled flowers. I don't see any missing designs.

The matching oval locket features a well rendered bird with the same stripe
design of rose and green gold filled. There is a prong set pearl that dangles
at the bottom. At the top is the original decorative bale. The piece is
substantial and dimensional. You can' t see from photos but the outer edge is a
frame that is attached to the locket by little strips of gold filled. So you
can see open space around the interior locket. It has an Etruscan revival feel
with all the ball decorations. The back opens to reveal a locket-glass and
frame still there! The finish is very good as you can tell by the back photo.

Overall the condition is near excellent for being close to 140 years old.
There is some tarnishing on the chain -but I am picking. At some point in its
life someone added a spring ring clasp.

Locket is 2 5/8 in. in length (with bale)
