Beaded Tassel Silk & Swarovski, Pink Copper Violet Amethyst

I love the different styles of jewellery from through the ages, and this one
particularly reminds me of 1920's 'Flapper' style necklaces which were long,
lean and elegantly beautiful. When I sat down to make this piece I curated
little piles of beautiful things I wanted to incorporate, and little by little
over the course of several hours, this piece came together. I started by making
the tassel. I had some lovely pink silk thread, made by Swarovski crystal,
which is embellished with delicate rose colour tiny sparkles of Swarovski, and
then added more Swarovski, gold and copper lined seed beads, copper beads,
Czech glass, and Japanese Miyuki glass cubes, then brought these many strand
together using a shiny copper beadcap, and this beautiful tactile tassel is
suspended from a cluster of artist-made glass beads, Swarovski crystal and
Czech glass, the overall length of the tassel including this cluster of beads
is approx. 8 inches/cm.

Having made the focal element of the necklace, the tassel, I made a delicately
beaded necklace to match, again using Swarovski, copper, the highest quality
Japanese seed beads, gold tone beadcaps, Czech glass and high quality Japanese
miyuki cubes and spacer beads. Finding just the right, harmonious balance in
the colours and the shapes while ensuring the piece would be comfortable for
the wearer was my main priority here, whilst balancing visual interest, variety
and sparkle; I like to think the more you look at this piece, the more you'll
find to love in it. The two sides of the necklace are different, it is
intentionally asymmetric, the necklace and the tassel are both strung using 49
strand Beadalon Pro (the best of the best) and the necklace is finished off
using a gold tone lobster clasp and ring, though obviously the necklace is long
enough that it is possible to put it and take it off on without using the
clasp. This piece took around 6.5 hours to complete and I truly hope that it
will bring as much pleasure to its future owner as it was to me whilst I was
creating it.

The necklace element of the piece measures approx. 32.5 inches / 82.5 cm, and
as stated previously, the tassel and bead stack (which is part of the tassel
really) measures approx. 8 inches/20cm.
