Antique Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold Blue Enamel Belt and Buckle Glass Locket Pendant Necklace

This beautiful antique Victorian era locket, circa 1850, is oval in shape and
has lovely high detailed engraved details, with the focal point being a blue
enamel accented looped belt with a buckle. The back of the locket features a
glass panel. The glass could be carefully removed if you wished to put contents
inside (a lock of hair, a small photo, or tiny gemstones).

In Victorian symbolism the belt and buckle motif is much like the serpent, it
represents eternity, fidelity/loyalty, strength and protection. As the symbol
curves around and threads back into itself, it creates an eternal loop.
Essentially, the buckle/belt motif relates back to this unbreakable strength of
upholding loyalty and in turn, memory forever.

Tests as 18ct gold. The locket measures 2 cms without the bails, 2.3 cms with
the bail loops. The locket alone weighs 2.5 grams.
Can come with the dainty solid 9ct yellow gold chain pictured if desired, or
you can purchase the locket alone. The chain is 16" in length.

In good antique condition, with minimal surface wear to the gold and light
tarnish. There are some surface scuffs and light scratches on the glass. There
is some light wear and scratches to the enamel in places. As to be expected
from an old item. There is some solder build up on the rim of the glass,
presumably added to give the glass a tighter fit in the frame. Please see the
